Making a list

I've started making a list of places I want to go as soon as I get home:
1. Chick-fil-a
2. Japanese steakhouse in Dalton
3. Zaxbys

Fairbanks doesn't have a lot of places to go shopping and to go out to eat at. I've been in Fairbanks for about a month now and I am craving these places already!!

At my first meeting with my principal she asked,"Aubree, do you have your gear for recess?" I was thinking.. Well I have a few balls and games and things like that, I hope that is enough for the kids to play with. However, I was very wrong about the "gear". In Alaska, we are required to go OUTSIDE until -20 degrees, so when you think it's cold at recess duty in 50 degrees, think again! Yep, -19 we are outside playing in the snow. Today, one of my kids was playing with a sled on the play ground and was walking in an area that is not played in that frequently. The snow was up to his knees! Crazy, I know! It is so much fun to take the kids sledding on our sledding hill behind our school, but definitely very cold! We wear full ski gear, ski pants, jackets, boots, gloves, hats, neck warmers, the whole shabang everyday! The kids think it is no big deal to have snow everywhere, but I think it amazing! All the other ladies at the school laugh at me in all my gear. I was really excited about making snowmen at recess, but our snow is too dry until March to build anything. Can't wait till March!!

The past two months have been a whirl wind of changes in my life-- got engaged, offered a job in Alaska, resigned from Cedar Ridge Elementary, moved to Alaska, and now I am teaching Special Education at University Park in Fairbanks, Alaska. Barry and I are enjoying our experiences in Alaska; however, it is very different from Georgia!
